We have had some Pinecliff residents show interest in the Neighborhood Watch Program. Neighborhood Watch is composed of neighbors who stay in touch with each other and facilitate the flow of information. This includes getting educated about crime prevention, watching for suspicious actions and informing the police. Typically Neighborhood Watch groups meet twice a year, sometimes formally, sometimes at an informal gathering. Neighborhood Watch members have a liaison with the Police Department via the Neighborhood Resource Officer (NRO). The NRO can provide us with the latest on crime prevention and crime statistics for our area. Neighborhood Watch organizations do need Block Captains, who attend quarterly meetings with the police department and also communicate information to the Neighborhood Watch participants.
So, are you interested participating in Neighborhood Watch? If so, please contact either our PHOA president, Bruce Hutchison, or the traffic and safety point of contact, Carl Peterson. If we get enough interest, we will pursue this program and set up for a kick off around our annual PHOA meeting date in September.
